CoverageCoverage Description
Trip CancellationProvides reimbursement for non-refundable trip payments and deposits if a trip is canceled for sickness, injury, death or other specific unforeseen circumstances.
Trip InterruptionProvides reimbursement for non-refundable trip payments and deposits if a trip is interrupted for sickness, injury, death or other specific unforeseen circumstances.
Travel DelayTrip Delay provides reimbursement for meals, taxi fares, essential phone calls and accommodations when a trip is unexpectedly delayed.
Missed ConnectionMissed Connection provides reimbursement in the event of a missed flight connection or for the additional costs to "catch up" to a cruise if the cause of delay is an accident or bad weather.
 Terrorism at Departure / DestinationProvides coverage if a terrorist act occurs at your destination or departure. Some plans only provide coverage if you are scheduled to arrive within 30 days of the incident and some plans only offer foreign coverage.
 Financial Default of Travel ProviderCoverage is provided usually in the event of a complete suspension of operations due to financial circumstances whether or not bankruptcy is filed. All insurance companies offer different levels of coverage, please check individual coverage statements for more detailed info. Most companies do not provide coverage if you purchase your insurance directly from your tour operator. Some companies also have a limit on the time in between making your initial trip payment and buying your insurance.
 Weather Related (Snow, Hurricane)Coverage is provided for weather-related conditions such as your home being made uninhabitable as a result of a natural disaster, a mandatory evacuation in effect due to an anticipated natural disaster, if your accommodations at your destinations are made uninhabitable, if you are called for duty to clean-up after a natural disaster, or if your travel supplier cancels travel due to a weather related emergency.
 Cancel For Any ReasonThis coverage allows you to cancel your trip for any reason. There is however, a co-insurance applied on most plans.

CoverageCoverage Description
Lost LuggageProvides reimbursement for lost, stolen or damaged luggage or personal items. This coverage is for your entire trip, not just your flight. Laptops and some camera equipment are not covered. If you have items valued over $1,000 it is best to have these items "scheduled" on your home-owners policy.
Baggage DelayProvides reimbursement for clothing, toiletries and other essential items if luggage is delayed for at least 24 hours.
Rental Car ProtectionCollision loss/damage insurance for rental cars covers the costs of damage to, or theft of, a rental car.

CoverageCoverage Description
Emergency Medical

Pays for the cost of treatment associated with a medical emergency incurred while traveling. "Primary Coverage" protects you when you do not have medical insurance at your destination.

"Secondary Coverage" means that our insurance will only cover medical expenses that your own Primary Coverage does not. This includes items such as co-payment and deductible. If you have no Primary Coverage, you will need to provide an affidavit to the insurance company at the time of loss. If you have Primary Coverage you will need to provide a disposition of your claim with your primary insurance and supplemental insurance carriers upon filing a claim.

"Schedule Benefits" plans limit payments to based on a schedule of prices and procedures determined by an insurance company.

 DeductibleMedical deductible represents amount that the insured will pay before the insurance company starts to pay for your medical bill.
 Coinsurance (claims in US or Canada)Coinsurance is the portion of the claim that you will share with the insurance company. This effects only the claim incurred in United States or Canada.
 Coinsurance (claims outside US or Canada)Coinsurance is the portion of the claim that you will share with the insurance company. This effects only the claim incurred outside United States or Canada.
 Emergency DentalPays for the cost of treatment associated with a dental emergency incurred while traveling.
 Pre-Existing ConditionCoverage is provided only if the policy is purchased within a certain number of days after the initial trip payment was made. If you book outside of this range, coverage is not provided for any loss due to injury or sickness (a medical condition) of you or a family member if, during a certain number of days preceding and including the coverage effective date, there was medical care, advice, consultation or treatment received for the condition, or if there was any adjustment of medication for the condition.
Emergency EvacuationEmergency Evacuation arranges to medically transport a patient to an appropriate medical facility or to return home in order to receive care. All Emergency Evacuation coverage is PRIMARY if the insured calls the 24-hour assistance line.
 Repatriation of RemainsEmergency Repatriation arranges for return of remains back to place of residence.

Accidental DeathProvides cash payment for accidental loss of life or limb while traveling. Only a few companies offer coverage for the entire trip.
Common Carrier AccidentProvides coverage only for the accident while traveling on a common carrier. This is not just the flight portion of your trip but includes any other common carrier such as a cruise ship. This coverage is optional on some plans. Money Back GuaranteeMoney back guarantees are provided to allow you to decide if the policy you purchased is right for you. Administrative FeeSome plan administrators charge a non-refundable administrative fee for processing the plan. This fee is charged per plan and not per person. The fee is already included in the price quoted.
